How to check for Blood in Cat’s Urine?

Checking for blood in cat urine can be difficult to understand. Your cat pees in the litter tray and you won’t be able to see the color of your cat’s urine when you have dark-colored litter sands.

When your cat feels pain and discomfort, they can urinate outside the litter tray and it will be easier for you to see it.

You can take a piece of white cloth, a white wipe, or a piece of Molina sheet/white underpads and wipe the urine from the surface. Check for color and smell. You would know there is blood in Cat’s urine when:

  • The color of urine is red, brown, pink, orangish in color.
  • There is a smell of blood in the urine.
  • A pungent smell or a bad odor.
  • Urinating frequently. Too much urine.
  • Cat making noise while urinating.

If you have a physically challenged cat, who is not able to urinate in the litter trays, in this case, you place white underpad sheets/Molina sheets on her bed or on the area which is your cat’s resting place. So that the urine is soaked in the sheets and the color of the urine is visible easily.

In a physically challenged cat, if you notice your cat is puffing up the tail or moving the legs frequently when urinating, this indicates your cat is feeling pain.
